My husband and I hired Charlie Malafaia and the International Builders (IB) team to lead the year-long restoration and renovation of our 1890 home in one of Brookline’s historic neighborhoods.

IB has exceeded our expectations for craftsmanship, professionalism, and communication from the beginning to the end of the project. Charlie came into this project with not only decades of experience in high-end home construction and renovation but also a skill set and interest in problem-solving critical to a project involving a complicated historic home. Throughout the process, I felt completely confident that Charlie and his team’s priorities were to ensure we were satisfied while delivering an exceptional product. I quickly learned I could trust their advice and depended upon it heavily throughout the project.

Understanding the financial and emotional investment in a home renovation, Charlie took our questions and concerns seriously and always responded with the urgency required. Rarely did it take more than two rings to reach Charlie for questions small and large alike. Communication of a transparent timeline and budget allowed realistic expectations from the beginning of the project. In addition to the IB team, the subcontractors IB hired for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work were professional, respectful, and responsive.

Over a year of working on this project, with long days spent together on the job site, we have come to respect and care for all the people who spent so many hours putting this house together. We are so grateful for our new home, and the care and skill lent to the house by Charlie and International Builders.
